Yalrasyeong Film Group
Founded in 1979, it was the first ever college film group. It first began as a club inside the Seoul National University School of Science and Engineering. In March of 1980, when the university moved to Gwanak-dong, Yalrasyeong Film Group registered as a club for the entire university and its members at this time included Park Kwang-su, Kim Hong-joon, Hong Ki-soon, Moon Won-lip, Kim Dong-bin, Song Neung-han, Hwang Qu-dok, and Kim In-soo. Along with education on films, Yalrasyeong Film Group actively produced films on 8mm such as Many and One (Yeorut-kurigo-hana) (8mm, 16 minutes, 1979), Bunk Bed (Ichengchimdae) (8mm, 10 minutes) and Black Republic (8mm, 20 minutes, 1982). In 1984, the second generation of Yalrasyeong film makers such as Lee Kyu-sung and Kim Myeong-ju produced movies that were highly critical of society such as Frozen Beads of Sweat (Euleubuteun-ddambangul) (8mm, 50 minutes, 1984) and Galilee men of this land (I-ddangui-garili-saramdeul) (8mm, 30 minutes, 1984). Yalrasyeong Film Group emphasized collaboration in the production of movies and was run as a creative collective.
