Synopsis

Chang-sik, who is disabled, works collecting umbrellas that have been thrown away, and his sister and father work fixing and mending them. Surprised when a fistful of hair falls out from Chang-sik¡¯s head, his sister takes him to the hospital but the doctor cannot give them a definite answer as to the illness¡¯s exact identity and tells them he suspects that it¡¯s a hereditary disease. Chan-sik¡¯s sister asks their father about what could be the cause of the illness, but her father ignores her questions. She discovers her mother¡¯s hospital clothes in a cabinet and is devastated to find her mother¡¯s name on a list of people who suffered from nuclear fallout. After watching Chang-sik sell umbrellas on a sunny day, his sister takes him to the Han River, where Chang-sik futilely attempts to catch an umbrella that he let go of.
