The preservation of moving image materials can no longer be delayed. It is the only way to properly hand down our cultural heritage, and just a little care can make it possible to show the way we live today in vivid images centuries later. if If left unmanaged, the moving image materials, which are especially susceptible to changes in temperature or humidity, may be irreversibly damaged and never be able to be seen again..

The Archive has 10 storage vaults optimized for film preservation. Films sent to the Archive are first added with a chemical that prevents "the vinegar syndrome." It is then wrapped in chemically stabilized polyester film stock and stored in an A.B.S film container that blocks harmful external factors and prevents any change. Finally, it is preserved in the water refrigerator, which is managed according to the Halon disaster prevention system, the thermo-hygrostats, and a state-of-the-art security system. The film is now restored and digitalized as invaluable national asset that enhances our nation's stature.
